ADULT EDUCATION

Temple Beth Am offers a variety of learning experiences for the congregation and the community. Beginning in the fall, right after Yom Kippur, The Beth Am Institute of Jewish Studies begins on Wednesday nights.

We are pleased to invite you to participate in a Jewish learning experience that will exercise your mind, deepen your understanding and challenge your ideas about Judaism. Temple Beth Am is a congregation which values Jewish learning. We have made a strong commitment to the Jewish education of our children. Now we want to give all adults a unique opportunity to discover the joy, excitement and intrinsic reward of Jewish learning. (In Jewish tradition it is called Torah Lishmah). “Learning, learning, learning is the secret of Jewish survival” Ahad Haam.

Come together with a spouse or friend.
Meet others who value learning their heritage.
Make Wednesday night, your study night.

A variety of classes are scheduled for 3 six week terms. Topics include History, Israel, Bible, Rabbinic literature, Hebrew, Prayer book, God concepts and Adult B’nai Mitzvah.

The Institute of Jewish studies also sponsors a scholar in residence weekend in January or February. This is an opportunity to study with an expert on a particular aspect of Judaism.

Do not say “I shall study when I have leisure.” For you may never have leisure.

Call Lenore Kipper at the Temple 667-6667 ex 124 for information.
